How Vacation Rentals at the Beach
Beat Hotel Rooms

Here are five things you can do at vacation rentals at the beach that you can't in a hotel room. Because the best beach vacation is the one where you laugh and lounge and get back in touch with family and friends -- and yourself. And, for that, you need plenty of room and privacy.

1. Hang out in your bathrobe 'til noon.

Sure a "Do Not Disturb" will keep the maid at bay. But how long can you loll around in an unmade bed?

In a rented home, you can linger over breakfast, then brew another pot of coffee and curl up with a good book on the patio for hours before showering even crosses your mind.

2. Be LOUD.

Go ahead and laugh LOUD. Hoot. Holler over each other, "Remember when...?" without watching the clock or apologizing to the management.

Or, turn the lights out early and let your hair down for a no-kids-in-the-next-room good time.

3. Disappear.

Sneak away from the rest of the group for nap or to journal without digging out the car keys or causing a big scene.

4. Cook up a feast together.

Pick up some fresh fish and local vegetables and mix up a pitcher of margaritas to sip while everybody whips up his or her own specialty.

5. Do laundry.

Because isn't it so much nicer to come home with clean clothes?
